What Everybody Ought to Know About Nez Perce Art in the Wallowa

Monday, August 20, 2012 by Heather Tyreman

The 16th Annual Nez Perce Art in the Wallowa is coming up very quickly--Saturday of the first weekend in October 2012 to be exact.  If you like contemporary Native American art then you don't want to miss this opportunity.  Nez Perce Indian and nearly Columbia River Tribal Plateau artists will once again display and offer their work for sale at the historic Wallowa Lake Lodge in Northeastern Oregon.

Live and silent auctions take place in the afternoon of Saturday, October 4, 2012, from noon to 4 pm.  Every year's different so it's worth to see what the artists are offering this year.  Many of the artists are in attendance too.

In the evening at 6 pm, there'll be a dinner by reservation only in the dining room of the Wallowa Lake Lodge.  Tickets for this dinner sell out quickly as fewer than 100 people can attend.  The scrumptious dinner includes fresh salmon, local buffalo, local salad and vegetables, and cheesecake with huckleberry topping.  A culinary tourism or locavore delight!

The afternoon reception, live & silent auction is free admission.  Dinner tickets are $45 in advance and can be reserved through the Wallowa Band Nez Perce Trail Interpretive Center at 541-886-3101 or purchased through local vendors listed here

According to Coyote at the Mixed Blood TheatreEntertainment during the dinner features Nez Perce storyteller Carlotta Kauffman who will perform  "According to Coyote" a collection of Coyote stories collected and produced by her brother John Kauffman.  This show was recently performed Dakota State University (see photo).

You can stay at the Wallowa Lake Lodge for this event, but we'd like to recommend that you check into one of three Oregon Bed & Breakfast Guild members located nearby in Joseph, Oregon (10 minutes away) or Enterprise, Oregon (20 minutes away). All three of these Oregon bed and breakfasts are equipped with only private bathrooms that are either attached directly to your guestroom or are nearby.  And by staying in Joseph or Enterprise you'll be able to enjoy more of the sights and sounds of this vibrant Pacific Northwest artistic community.

Make your reservations soon!

See you at this northwest culinary and artistic event!

Vikki Lynn and Tina Marie of Bybee's Historic Inn near Jacksonville, OR, don't let the grass grow under their feet!  There's always something new and exciting going on at this authentic Oregon lodging.  Here's a report about a recent Northwest culinary event at their inn, combined with a little bit of Victorian fun.

They write:

November 5th: Twenty-two members of Belles and Beaus of Jacksonville enjoyed and evening of Victorian tradition at the Bybee’s Historic Inn.   Belles and Beaus is an organization that promotes history by dressing The gentleman of Belles and Beaus of Jacksonville Oregon gather at Bybee's Historic Innin vintage clothing and accessories while reviving the traditions of the 1800’s.  They pay attention to every detail including the clutches the ladies carried containing period appropriate items.

After a gourmet dinner catered by Chef William Prahl of Deja Vu in Jacksonville, the ladies retired to the Parlor and the men remained in the dining room just as it was done in the Victorian era.

To finish off the evening everyone gathered in the parlor to play Victorian games.  It was truly magical to have our 1857 circa home filled with guests representing that period.

Oregon Wedding Location Upgrades Its Facilities

Thursday, November 3, 2011 by Heather Tyreman

Innkeepers Vicki and Tina Marie working on an new addition to one of their Southern Oregon wedding venues at Bybee's Historic Inn in Jacksonville, ORWhen you own and operate an Oregon bed and breakfast and you're also one of the popular Oregon wedding sites, you need to plan your improvements accordingly.  Vicki and Tina Marie at Bybee's Historic Inn in Jacksonville, OR, are doing just that.  Here's a little note about their latest improvement.  Vicki writes:

"As our 2011 summer season comes to an end, we are working on new amenities for the 2012 season.  Tina has always envisioned an outdoor fireplace in the north yard and this fall it became a reality.  She designed it and we built it ourselves.  It is framed with cinder blocks, lined with clay firebricks and finished on the outside with river rock and brick.

Outdoor fireplace is just one area you might choose one of Southern Oregon wedding sites popular locations in Jacksonville, OR at Bybee's Historic InnIt is a beautiful addition to one of our wedding areas as well as a fun place for our guests to relax under the stars gazing at the fire."

Southern Oregon brides and bridal planners take note!  Bybee's Historic Inn has a variety of locations on the property suitable for outdoor or indoor weddings and is a perfect Oregon wedding location.  In another blog post, Vicki described how they were able to salvage an old maple tree and transform it into a stately "gentleman with top hat" ready to pose with the wedding party at a moment's notice.

Give them a call at (541) 899-0106 to discuss your 2012 wedding plans.  As the weather starts to get colder and rain or snow falls outside, it's the perfect time to start planning ahead for that summer 2012 wedding.

What to do when you lose an old tree? How about Oregon wedding sites?

Wednesday, September 21, 2011 by Heather Tyreman

Old maple tree on the grounds of Bybee's Historic Inn Jacksonville OR before the transformation.Bed and breakfasts are such wonderful places.  And bed and breakfast owners are special people interested in the properties they transform into B&Bs.  Many inns are located in historically significant homes and the owners do what they can to maintain the character of the house and its surroundings.

It's been said that B&B owners have done more for the preservation of older and/or historic homes in the United States through their preservation efforts than have the preservation societies (perhaps a topic for another discussion).

Here's a story submitted by Vikki Lynn and Tina Marie of Bybee's Historic Inn near Jacksonville in Southern Oregon.

We recently were forced to cut down an old maple tree that we figure to be over 154 years old.  He graced our sidewalk and shaded our porch.  We adorned this beautiful tree with flowers at its base along with a “gnome door” and a face to help bring out his character.

Rescued maple tree trunk at Bybee's Historic Inn Jacksonville Oregon and one of the Oregon wedding sitesWe did everything possible over the last 5 years to save this beautiful friend so it was very devastating to think of losing his graceful presence.....so we decided to keep his stump at 8’ so that his face could still shine and then we gave him a “top hat”.   His hat also provides a home for beautiful flowering plants.   He gives us a lot of pleasure every time we look at him and we hope it brings a smile to everyone who sees him.

It could just be off thought, but I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that Mr. Maple is about to start his new life as an Oregon wedding guest or perhaps as a wedding party participant.  Can't you see the bridal party posing with this fine fellow?  Check out Oregon wedding sites five years from now and I'll bet he shows up in quite a few photos!

If you're looking for Oregon wedding sites, keep Bybee's Historic Inn under consideration.  On 3 1/2 acres with plenty of gazebos and verandas, there's room for 150 wedding guests.  And I'm thinking that Mr. Maple would be proud to stand for your wedding photos!

Oregon Coastline: A Bed and Breakfast Inn That Renews, Recharges and Rejuvenates

Author: C.J. Good

Have you ever sojourned to a place that thrilled and excited you? Have you ever felt your spirit vibrate in response to the fierceness and solitude of nature? When was the last time you felt the warmth of the sun, soaking in through your skin and muscles? What if along the way, you could learn volumes of local history, see breathtaking views that most people only read about in books, and become enchanted with the local wildlife?

Travelers would serve themselves well to explore the Oregon coastline. In so doing, they may very well uncover a special passion that propels them to renew, rejuvenate and reconnect.

Port Orford, Oregon is a quaint, artistic fishing village in the southern Oregon coast. It was founded in 1861 and served as a port for timber shipping.

At the WildSpring Guest Habitat in Port Orford, guests can sit in a hot tub overlooking the sea, ensconced in fountains of bubbles, smelling the scent of ocean mists coming from the waves.

The true power of Oregon's coastline lies in the notable lessons that its natural environment can teach us. We are exposed to a unique set of conditions, which are not found in large cities. The landscape consists of mountains and forests meeting with the turbulent ocean, and is quite dramatic. The natural beauty, clean air, expansive vistas and unbeaten paths make for a great B & B getaway.

A small bed and breakfast inn is a place where we can build compelling new affinities. As personal witnesses to the charm of the area and special activities of the region, local innkeepers can lend their already fascinating insights, and indulgent touches. Bed and breakfast accommodations are generally more appealing than mundane and sterile hotel chains.

One needs a great deal of guts, patience, eye-opening creativity, perseverance and hard work to succeed in the modern business world. For those of us who have stressful jobs, there comes a point when we should take time out for rest and stillness. If we could choose a destination that makes us feel deep and serenely peaceful, where life is slowed down, where we can immerse ourselves into the delights of gorgeous nature, it can be like a soothing, soft lullaby.

When we look at the anxiety ridden thoughts that clutter our minds, we can't help being concerned. It is little wonder that small bed and breakfast inns have proliferated along the coastal shores of Oregon; providing unique combinations of comfort, relaxation and rejuvenation.

The Oregon coast is a destination that can inspire us. The breakthrough moments come when our energy is replenished. This allows passing thoughts to ascend to defining expressions of our personal creativity and translates into success and accomplishment.

Michelle Duarte, innkeeper of WildSpring Guest Habitat in Port Orford, Oregon told me: "Some business people come very stressed and we understand the psychology. Everyone wants to feel that someone is looking out for his or her best interests. They want to know that the innkeepers know enough and care enough to do that. What it takes to be a good innkeeper is empathy and compassion; the ability to think about what the other person would like if they were in this situation. The whole approach is about what other people need."

Continues Michelle: "Some people are really moved to come here at the times of their lives when they need special attention to heal, to celebrate, or to be alone and find solace within themselves. When they experience great trauma, they are inclined to come here because they sense they will find some consolation in order to recover here."

"WildSpring has put together trips for guests who have suffered arduous and difficult treatments for breast cancer," remarks Michelle. "The travel agent sent them to our place so they could find their center and energy again."

The Oregon coast provided relief to a woman who lost her husband and son. "She came with her best friends," shared Michelle. "It was terribly moving that she was able to find peace in her soul from what she found here."

On the happier side of life, quite a few engagements are made at the Oregon coast. Couples return for their weddings, honeymoons, and anniversaries.

Older, middle aged twosomes, whose kids have left, enjoy the Oregon coast as it rekindles the magic that brought them together in the first place. Mothers like to bring their daughters for birthdays or retreats. Their physical, emotional and mental selves get renewed when they are submerged in nature.

"Part of an innkeepers life is challenging," admits Michelle. "We are providing peak experiences in peoples lives. We have a desire to be of service. It is nice to make people happy, so we might make a difference. We try to make sure that everything our guests see and touch is natural. When we live in an urban life, we get divorced from nature."

"My Stay at Bybee's Historic Inn...Jacksonville, Oregon"

Friday, March 25, 2011 by Debbie Lusk
Guest Room at Bybee'sHave I mentioned lately how much I love my "volunteer" job with the Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild?  Well, if not...here goes!  I LOVE THIS GIG!!!

I am one half of the OBBG membership team and believe me when I say that it is all about being a "team!"  Many of our innkeepers have experience when performing inspections for new inns and re-inspecting those inns that have been members for many years.  However, one inn in particular...Bybee's Historic Inn near Jacksonville, OR joined us about one year ago and I could hardly wait to see thisA guest room at Bybee's gorgeous place.  Well, as luck would have it, I had to give this "new member" inspection to a friend, team player and fellow innkeeper.  Fred Wickman from the Prospect Historic Hotel-Motel and Dinner House had the divine pleasure of performing this "new inn inspection and I was very jealous!

Needless to say, he was quite smitten with this beautiful inn.  A wonderful addition to our organization, a perfect location just outside of Jacksonville and again another reason to brag about OBBG and their awesome list of membership inns!

Performing inspections can take us to many different regions in Oregon and my luck wasporch at Bybee's changing and took me right to Bybee's a few days ago.  Not for another inspection but for just a night away and a chance to see the inn.  Cousins and friends Tina Marie and Vikki Lynn have done a wonderful job as innkeepers. Their "historical character dinners of the 1800's, unique themed dinners and high tea's for any occasion, elegant romantic getaways, private weddings, receptions, and unforgettable honeymoons," only add to the stunning surroundings that make you want to stay.

Thank you ladies for making our stay just perfect.  Your special touch on everything you do made us feel special, pampered and very well taken care of!

From BnBFinder Bed and Breakfast Blog:

"Family reunions are no longer limited to Thanksgiving or Christmas, or to being a one-day potato salad and hot dog affair. They can be customized to embrace every family’s lifestyle and hobbies, and for that reason, bed and breakfasts and innkeepers can be a reunion-planner’s best friend. Many B&Bs offer their entire premises as the venue for staging your event, and also offer a variety of packages  and activities to fit your family’s budget and preferences. Some innkeepers even create fun themes around which activities may be planned, and also arrange itineraries that include trips to theme parks, museums, beaches, or other local attractions. Common areas, such as gardens, and porches provide comfortable gathering spots for family members to reconnect and reminisce.  Add to that bountiful breakfasts served to you and your kin every morning, and the joy of having no dishes to wash, and you’ve got the ideal setting for an easy and enjoyable family reunion."

A Family Reunion in the Gardens of the Old Parkdale Inn Bed and BreakfastMany of the inns of the Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild have the space, grounds and ideal settings for your reunion, retreat, reception, and weddings.  For larger events visit the Retreats and Weddings Location Page of the Guild website.

For a smaller more intimate gathering of family and friends any one of 87 inns of the Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild will work.  We've had a few reunions at our inn this spring/summer.  We can accommodate 10 at our inn.  Some gatherings were large, up to 40 folks, and although we were not able to accommodate all, only three rooms in the Old Parkdale Inn, we were able to find rooms close by and our gardens made for the perfect setting for reuniting and intimate conversation.

"Keep in mind that like families, no two inns are alike, so finding the perfect match between the B&B and the location is key to the success of the event. Whatever your preference, bed and breakfasts are the ideal place for connecting the great grandparents to the newborns in the family. No need to wait until Christmas to see your loved ones. Instead, why not get together at a family-friendly inn this summer?"

Eagle Cap Extreme Sled Dog Race in Northeastern Oregon, Jan 13-16, 2010

Monday, January 4, 2010 by Heather Tyreman

Rick Katucki and team at start of the 2009 Eagle Cap Extreme Sled Dog Race Joseph ORIt's time again for the annual Eagle Cap Extreme Sled Dog Race in Northeastern Oregon!  This race is Oregon's only sled dog race that is a qualifier for both the Alaska Iditarod and the Yukon Quest in Alaska/Canada.

In a recent press release, ECX President Clyde Raymer, Jr., announced that twelve teams are preregistered for the race--8 for the 100 mile race in the Eagle Cap Wilderness of Wallowa County, Oregon, and 4 for the 200 mile race through the Eagle Cap Wilderness to a site near Halfway, Oregon and return.

The event features fun for the whole family, ranging from the veterinary checks for all the sled dogs on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, through the awards banquet and musher's ball on Saturday, January 16, 2010.

If you'd like to attend the race, we have bed & breakfast lodging in Oregon recommendations for you.  There are two Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild members in Joseph, Oregon (the start & finish of the race and location of Race Central):

  • Belle Pepper's Bed and Breakfast - Pepper herself is very involved in organizing volunteer for this year's Eagle Cap Extreme.  You'll find three well-appointed guestrooms with private baths awaiting you.
  • Bronze Antler Bed and Breakfast - Heather & Bill are hosting one of the ECX out-of-town staff members as their contribution to this year's race.  Last year the trail boss stayed with us, giving guests an insider's view to race operations.  We don't know yet who will stay with us for the 2010 race, but we're certain we'll learn more about sled dogs and racing from whoever it is!

Regardless of which bed & breakfast you choose, we'd love to see you "go to the dogs" at an Oregon Bed & Breakfast Guild member in January 2010!

The Romance, The Glamour and An Oregon Wedding!

Wednesday, December 2, 2009 by Debbie Lusk
When I think of an Oregon wedding, I think of white chairs lined up in the middle of a hazelnut orchard nestled somewhere in the Willamette Valley, huge white bouquets of flowers and ivy all blanketed by a backdrop mossy ground cover and then willow branches covering the bride and groom as they exchange vows and say their "I do's." I see white linens covering long tables set for one or two hundred guests, candles lit in rows with silver and crystal goblets with sweet little goodie boxes filled with chocolate covered hazelnuts and tied with gossamer ribbons...

Ok, so a girl can dream...can't she???  Guests visiting last summer really did attend a wedding set in a hazelnut orchard not too far from here!  They said it was absolutely beautiful and such a unique setting that they will remember it forever.  Are you planning a wedding soon?  Are you still trying to figure out where your unforgettable event should occur?  Do you love Oregon in all its natural beauty and hopeless romance and rugged glamour?  Well...you must consider Oregon for your special day of wedded bliss and memories to last a life time!

The Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild has many membership inns that host weddings.  Many of these locations are some of the most romantic venues in Oregon and are set outdoors.  A rivers edge, hazelnut orchards, wine grape vineyards and some are even set amid the most gorgeous water falls in the entire country!  Then again...if you prefer your wedding day memories to be captured indoors, consider the many glamorous historic wedding sites located in many small historic downtown venues and in some of the most beautiful inns in the state!

Start planning your special day of celebration and romance amidst the outdoorsy Oregon glamour or inside a beautiful historic inn!  Consider an Oregon Wedding Site and consider making memories for the two of you to last a lifetime!

An Oregon Bed & Breakfast, Butterflies and Elk?

Friday, June 5, 2009 by Debbie Lusk
Elk on highway 38 between two Oregon Bed and Breakfasts.A 7:30am coffee wake-up call was the perfect way to crawl out of a cozy bed and greet the morning.  Last week we enjoyed visiting with our host Jon at Coos Bay Manor, an Oregon coast lodging facility and Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild membership inn.

The manor boasts five guest rooms, a hearty, healthy breakfast and two sweet dogs that happily greet each and every guest.  This pet friendly inn offers the perfect location for bird watching, dune buggy rides in the sand dunes and many other family fun activities.

A day or two on the coast then we discover hwy 38.  This highway is a must.  I mean you really must drive this highway.  An absolute gorgeous ride with many surprises along the way. Herds of elk, the Umpqua River, the rolling green hills, and oh yeah, all the red barns.  Lots of them, tons of them all along this hwy.  IButterfly at the Butterfly Pavilion in Elkton, Oregon could have spent an entire day just photographing and looking at the barns...but then I would have missed the butterflies.

Elkton, Oregon, a small historic town, and home to the Butterfly Pavilion, is only about 36 miles from the Pacific Ocean and 60 miles from Eugene.  With a population of 197, this town is fast becoming the "Bass Capital of Oregon".  Go fishing for trout, salmon, steelhead or shad too.  Or, just go see the butterflies.  At the Butterfly Pavilion, Gardner at Butterfly Pavilion, Elkton, Oregonyou can enjoy espresso and/or Umpqua ice cream while perusing the beautiful gardens that provide the natural attraction for many species of butterflies.  Tour the gardens full of native shrubs and trees, see the Life-cycle display of Oregon butterflies, sponsor a log and help construct or just visit the replica of historic Fort Umpqua. Consider this natural botanical garden for the perfect Oregon wedding site!

Blueberries, orchards, flowers, gardens, wine grapes and feed crops grace this towns countryside and provides the perfect backdrop for the four wineries found in Elkton.  River's Edge Winery, Brandborg Vineyard & Winery, Anindor Vineyards and Bradley Vineyards are all located nearby.

So, a scenic drive along the Oregon Coast, a comfy night in a Coos Bay, Oregon Bed & Breakfast, an unforgettable ride on highway 38, a nice Pinot Noir from an Elkton, OregonLupines at Butterfly Pavilion, Elkton, Oregon winery and I think we tapped the perfect trip.  Just a night and a day or two to discover another Oregon treasure...can't wait to go again!

Coffee, Doughnuts, Mancakes Any One??? 24 Hours As A Culinary Tourist!

Friday, May 29, 2009 by Debbie Lusk
Olives, Pinot Noir and Crusty Bread At La Buca, Portland, Oregon.Ok, so I never and I mean "never" eat doughnuts.  Well, just this one time I ate one.  But it was a vegan doughnut.  So, does that count???

My last 24 hours in Portland have been full.  And I really mean full in every sense of the word.  For my husbands birthday, we headed north and my goal was to check out as many little "out of the way" cafes and restaurants we could.  So I had a doughnut this morning at Voodoo Doughnuts.  I have wanted to try these doughnuts ever since moving to Oregon especially when I found out that it's an Oregon Wedding Site.  I'm serious!  Let me just say it was an experience and we may do it again.  But, our culinary tour created by "me", began last evening at OMSI.

OMSI is one of those kind of museums that entertains the entire family.  However, last evening it was open only to adults 21 and over.  Serving wine, beer and distilled spirits, the museum offered an OMSI After Dark experience that allowed us to set off rockets, build and fly paper airplanes, control a robot and watch electricity go through your hand and make your hair stand on end.  Well, that could have been the beer or wine but it was still fun to watch.  Star Parties, the CSI Crime Scene Exhibit and the After Dark events are happening at OMSI all summer long.

Leaving the museum, we needed a little something to start off the "food" part of our tour.  We happened upon The Clarklewis.  This restaurant was a loading dock in a former life and now serves up tasty items such as Blue Bird Farm Farro Soup with Rapini, Pecorina and Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Saute'ed Sand Dabs with Oregon Asparagus, Fresh Bay Shrimp and Vermouth Butter.  Wasn't on my list, but it is now!

Stumptown Coffee and our Voodoo Doughnuts got us going this morning as we headed to Portland's Northeast District.  Taking the bus, we landed near La Buca (google for info), and after attending an art show, we sat and dined on several varieties of olives, crusty bread, balsamic vinegar, olive oil and of course an Oregon Pinot Noir.  This little cafe was not on my list either but you know how lists go.  Two of the cafes on my list have closed, one for remodeling.  So, we made a new list and headed for the Morrison Bridge. The Montage in Portland is directly under the bridge and offers up frog legs, gator bites, and blackened catfish.  The location was worth the walk and with it's interesting menu, it stays on our new list of places to dine.

Didn't eat the Mancakes but saw a Neo Blast Omelet, a BLT and burgers on the menu.  Stepping Stone Cafe is located in the North West area of Portland and serves "Mancakes" with a challenge to finish them all.  If you do, your picture goes on their "wall of shame".  So, we just tried the safe tomato and Gorgonzola soup.

Gnocchi with wild mushrooms and white truffle oil and an angel hair pasta dish finished our list at the London Grill in the Benson Hotel, downtown Portland. With dining options that include a secret back door that leads to the private cellar,  you can dine surrounded by over 6,000 bottles of wine.  In the lower level of the Benson Hotel, this restaurant was the perfect night cap to end this "foodies" culinary tour of Portland, Oregon.

So, I encourage you to make your list, don't feel obligated to stick to it, and enjoy a "full" day exploring one of the most sought after culinary tourist destinations in the Pacific Northwest.

Abbey Road Farm And Silo Suites At An Oregon Bed & Breakfast!

Friday, May 8, 2009 by Debbie Lusk
Abbey Road Farm, an Oregon Bed & BreakfastIn the heart of Oregon wine country in Carlton sits the most perfect little farm where the view is so spectacular it's hard to believe it's real.  The rolling hills of vineyards, grasses, clover, trees and the sweetest and most gentle farm animals grace this piece of heaven at Abbey Road Farm.

About two weeks ago we took a trip to check out the farm and "silo suites".  An hour and a half from Albany and the Corvallis area and an hour and a half South of Portland, sits 82 acres of pure bliss.  John and Judi have created what they call, the "real farm experience" and invite those seeking just that to participate with tasks around the farm such as gardening, managing animal related chores, weeding, stacking hay and even mucking stalls.  (Not sure what the latter is but sounds like it could be interesting and maybe even involve a good pair of boots).

Opened since July 2005, the "Silo Suites" at Abbey Road Farm offer a bed and breakfast stay out of the ordinary with quite a unique experience. The guest rooms are all situated in real grain silos with five guest rooms that include king beds (with one a queen), Jacuzzi tubs, radiant "Silo Suites" at Abbey Road Farmfloor heat, towel warmers, air conditioning and music systems.  The "country contemporary" design of the suites according to John and Judy is simply uncluttered and provides for a minimalist approach leaving comfort as the highest priority.

In the heart of wine country in the midst of the thriving gardens, rolling hills of clover, gentle farm animals, and all the comforts of a real "farm stay", the facility also is the perfect setting for events such as weddings, meetings, and receptions.  Providing a stage for a memorable "farm" experience, and an ultimate "get-a-way", you can choose to "find yourself" or "lose yourself" at the farm while sitting in Mum's or Pop's Garden overlooking the rolling hills of green sipping some of the many nearby wineries world class wines.

Mum's garden at Abbey Road Farms.Wine tours, fine dining, wine country balloon rides, museums and the proximity to McMinnville makes this location a perfect spot to experience all the goodies the valley has to offer while providing the "best" in a "farm stay" experience.

John is happy to guide through on a tour of Abbey Road Farm or you can simply pick up a self-guided tour book from the innkeeper that provides you the opportunity to see for yourself why this farm has been featured in travel publications such as Sunset Magazine and Travel & Leisure.

Sit back and enjoy the beauty from the gardens and be rest assured knowing a little piece of heaven awaits you on the hillsides in the heart of this wine country.
