Plan a visit to Florence, Oregon and eat a little peach cobbler. . .

Oregon Coast lodging at the Blue Heron Inn in Florence Oregon along the Suislaw RiverFlorence, Oregon is one of those places often thought about but not often visited.

Susan and Anthony, two Las Vegas-based restaurant reviewers and food critics, recently blogged about Morgan's Country Kitchen in Florence.

Susan writes: "One of the most beautiful places I've ever been to, Florence Oregon. While camping at Adler Dunes last September Tony and I got tired of making everything "campfire" and lucky for us Morgan's Country Kitchen is right there on Highway 101. The sign outside says, "homemade cobbler" oh yes, we swerved right into parking. Cobbler happens to be my favorite dessert. On this trip I told Tony ahead of time, "Two things I must have on this trip and I'll be happy as can be; first I have to go to the sea lion caves, second; I must find peach cobbler." Guess what, that day turned out really nicely because I got both!  Oregon is famous for wild berries so if you come here maybe even order a berry cobbler instead. But for me, peach is my favorite!"

Oregon Coast lodging at the Blue Heron Inn near Florence OregonFortunately, you don't have to camp on the dunes when you visit this Oregon coast town.  The Blue Heron Inn Bed & Breakfast is a 1940s ranch-style home updated with modern comforts, jetted tubs and antiques.

This inn is one of the few Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild members without email, so you'll need to call them at 1-800-997-7780 or (541) 997-4091 to reserve your room.   You can pass on the impersonal Oregon Coast hotels and concentrate on this very personable Oregon bed and breakfast.

The B&B overlooks the Suislaw River and is five minutes from historic downtown Florence.  Innkeepers Maurice and Stella Souza are fountains of knowledge about the area, including their favorite "secret" finds.
