Port of Siuslaw, the first port district in the state of Oregon, held its inaugural meeting in June of 1909, electing I. B. Cushman as president of the commission. Wasting no time, the five port commissioners immediately began an aggressive construction campaign that resulted in the completion of the North and South jetties in Florence.
Now, 100 years later, and after ten years of planning, the new dock facility is an extraordinary asset and likely to attract a lot of people because it’ll be about the easiest access — and a two-minute walk — to a great restaurant or downtown Florence.
With 10 miles of uninterrupted beaches, quaint local shopping, sumptuous dining, and plenty of family activities, your Florence Oregon vacation is sure to be unforgettable.
