The Lion and the Rose Victorian Bed and Breakfast Inn, located in the Portland's Historic Irvington District, was a perfect location for us when spending the evening in town. Listed on the National Registry of Historic places, the Lion and the Rose is within a few blocks of great restaurants, coffee shops, shopping and the TriMet Public Transportation Max train.
And proximity to the Max station was but one reason we chose to stay with Steve and Dusty. We were attending a concert at Portland's Moda Center. It could have been a nice walk, only about a mile from the Inn to the center, but because I had just had some foot surgery we choose to walk to the Max Station, just a little less than a half mile. Even that was a little much for me, should have gotten a cab! But for any able bodied, an easy stroll.
Greeted with Dusty's hospitality, we checked into the spacious Joseph Room, got settled in, put our feet up for a few before heading out to our night on the town. We broke the walk to the train station up with a stop for dinner at Milo's Cafe, upon Dusty's suggestion, an excellent food choice, then continued to the train.
When the concert ended we hopped back on the train and took our time strolling back to the inn through this very safe neighborhood. Morning came, and being busy innkeepers we choose to pass on breakfast, although the French Toast smothered with fresh fruit the other guests were dining on looked, and smelled, yummy. But it was off to shopping for us, picking up food for our own guests at the Old Parkdale Inn Bed and Breakfast. A quick, and much needed, getaway for us busy innkeepers. Thanks Dusty and Steve for having us.
