Simpson, pioneer lumberman and shipbuilder, built a beautiful home for his wife, Cassie, perched on a scenic bluff above the spectacular Oregon Coast and the Pacific Ocean.  Shore Acres began as a private estate with luxurious gardens featuring trees, shrubs and flowering plants brought from around the world.  Today it is an Oregon State Park where something is in bloom almost every day of the year.

Plan your trip so that you can spend the afternoon and early evening viewing seals, sea lions, elephant seals and other marine life from the newly built observation deck overlooking the scenic Oregon Coast at the Simpson Reef Overlook.  Bring your binoculars to scan the horizon for a glimpse of migrating whales and  shorebirds.
