Wilson Ranches Retreat is Celebrating 12 Years and 4 Generations
Wilson Ranches Retreat Bed & Breakfast celebrated their 12th Anniversary on March 12, 2012. Thank you for twelve years of extraordinary memories and for being an amazing extended family! They've created an amazing Oregon Geotourism adventure in Central Oregon.
Your hosts, Phil and Nancy Wilson's families homesteaded in Wheeler and Gilliam Counties over 100 years ago after traveling the Oregon Trail in the 1800's. Four generations, from 6 to 98, participate in the daily ranch operations. Grandpa Morris and Grandma Viola are frequently driving their Chevy S10 to flag for cattel drives and join the picnics at branding. Calving season is in full swing with the first having been born February 4th. This is Phil's favorite time of year watching 'new lives' begin and the hill turning green.
Although the ranch has been running for over 100 years the Wilson's opened the farmhouse to B&B guests 12 years ago. Breakfast with the Wilson’s is about much more than just good food and nourishment, it is truly a unique dining experience. Phil and Nancy sit down with the guests and share about ranch life, local history, and the funny and serious sides of rural living. Whatever the topic at the breakfast table, expect the conversation to be intelligent, informed and often humorous. You are likely to have a large helping of fun and laughter with Phil’s stories
Let your inner Cowboy or Cowgirl out! Visit Wilson Ranches Retreat for an authentic Ranch experience. Not the riding type? Not a problem. Sit under the cottonwoods, sipping lemonade while the rest of your party is out 'working'! But you might want to join in. There may be an inner cowhand you've never even met!

All B&Bs are not alike. That's one of the great things about B&B, but it's also what makes choosing just the right one for each traveler a challenge. When making your decision on where to book, we suggest that you choose a member of the Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guildwhich has been inspected and approved and follows the Guild's Standards and Ethics.
Did you know that in the State of Oregon a bed and breakfast with 2 or less rooms are not required to meet any state or county standards?! There is no inspection by county health departments, no food handlers training or permit is required and no entity checks to see if there is even any commercial liability insurance to protect you if you are injured on their property. If they have their own private water system, no county or state agency is checking to see if the water supply is safe.
You never have to worry about any of that when choosing a B&B that is a member of theOregon Bed and Breakfast Guild! The member inns of the Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild (OBBG) have all been inspected and approved by OBBG and even it's small 1 or 2 bedroom B&B members meet state standards and more importantly, OBBG standards which are even higher than the state in many cases!
Here at Sandlake Country Inn we have been proud members of OBBG for more than 15 years and are also licensed and inspected by not only OBBG, but also our county health department twice a year with surprise inspections. Sandlake Country Inn has also been certified "Green"by the OBBG Green Inspected Program.
When making your choice of where to stay, choosing a B&B is a great choice, and choosing an Inspected and Approved Oregon Bed and Breakfast is is not only a great choice, but you can rest assured that you'll be healthy and safe too!

There's a quirky little town on the Oregon side of the Columbia River, a half-hour drive north of Portland, that is trying to discover itself. St Helens Oregon has already been discovered by Hollywood, for one. Recently numerous scenes from "Twilight" were filmed here and each October Olde Towne recreated in the manner of the popular 1998 Disney movie, "Halloweentown".
Dozens of fishing boats might be waiting in the harbor for the tide to turn and the salmon to run. The local brewery, "Captured by Porches" is lodged behind the Plantation House and Captain Jack's karaoke bar in the heart of Olde Town, along with shops and restaurants and the Columbia Theatre. Sailors and kayakers with rentals from Scappoose Bay Kayaking, enjoy the calm waters of the narrow channel and farther out, oceangoing freighters and container ships traveled the main Columbia channel. The front steps of the 1905 Columbia County Courthouse — located immediately north of Columbia View Park — look out upon Plaza Square, which extends between Strand and First streets.
A delightful Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild member inn, The Nob Hill Riverview B&B, sits on a hilltop overlooking Olde Town and features a wonderful view of Mount St. Helen. The perfect place to relax and unwind. From the moment you step inside you will find that the Inn is elegantly appointed and restored for your comfort. You will feel pampered after a restful night's sleep and awake to the inviting aroma of homemade organic food being prepared for your breakfast. A true Northwest Culinary treat for that romantic getaway and a unique inn of the Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild.
Set among the rolling hills of Yamhill County, Abbey Road Farm B&B lies in the very heart of Oregon's Wine Country. Currently, some 18 wineries call our little town of Carlton home and these are just a fraction of the more than 200 that are within a half hour's drive time from the farm centrally located in the Willamette Valley.
The B & B is located on an 82 acre working farm in the middle of Yamhill County's wine country. After purchasing the farm in March of 2003 the Stuart's needed to create a plan of action and decide what their "crops" would actually be. The property came with 2 acres of Queen Anne Cherries, a delicious variety used principally in the making of maraschinos, so that choice was simple. Next, with 60 acres of open ground it seemed appropriate to consider a low maintenance perennial like fescue grass. Today, grass seed has become Oregon's primary field crop. The side benefit is that they now have what amounts to a huge lawn! Their third "crop" would be dairy goats.
In January of 2005 they initiated the process of converting the old grain silos on the property into the unique Abbey Road Farm Bed & Breakfast "Silo Suites". Each room has a spectacular view of the valley, wetlands, pastures and/or gardens. And although this is a working farm, the accommodations are more like what one would find at a resort.
The Stuart's had a desire to build a Bed & Breakfast as a place that they themselves would want to visit. Hence, the fabulous views, a location in the country yet accessible to nearby cities, and a place surrounded by nature and featuring nothing but the freshest food.

You just never know who is going to show up for a meal when you own a thriving Oregon bed and breakfast. Vikki at Bybee's Historic Inn in Jacksonville, Oregon, shares a little bit about some of their unusual breakfast guests:
We have some interesting guests that just arrived.
A mother robin has acquired accommodations on our side porch where our guests enter to the bed and breakfast. The picture is not the clearest but I cannot get too close without scaring her. We have a “boot” that has succulent plants in it and it sits on top of a metal box on the wall, the nest is snuggled in next to the boot.....the nest was used last year and we left it because it was so cute. A few weeks ago we started finding a mess of grass and twigs on the floor under the box then noticed her coming and going.....a couple of days ago we saw her feeding the babies, they reach their necks high enough that we can easily see their fuzzy little heads. The sweetest part of this is the nest is located just outside our dining room window, so guests can observe the activities while enjoying breakfast.
We have had a lot of visits from the wildlife this spring....our resident Canadian geese wandered through one morning with 5 goslings, a mallard duck and his mate have been swimming in our Koi pond every afternoon, I think they have a nest close by, and the other day a jack rabbit was lounging in the sun on our front lawn....spring is trying to arrive!
Thanks for the "interesting guest" update! If you're looking for romantic weekend getaways consider Bybee's Historic Inn on the outskirts of the quaint town of Jacksonville, Oregon.

A restored 1890's farmhouse in Ashland, Oregon, Blue Moon Bed and Breakfast is an ideal temporary home for visitors to the stunning Pacific Northwest.
Originally built as a farmhouse in the 1890's, the Inn has been hosting visitors to Ashland since 1991. It was named The MouseTrap Inn as a nod to a historic (and now defunct) pine mousetrap factory in the City which once supplied 90% of the nation's traps! Of course, with Ashland's theatrical history, many visitors associate the name with Agatha Christie's famous play (which ran on London's West End for more than forty years!)
Innkeeper Dean Clark, who purchased the Inn in 2002, changed the name to honor a favorite song of his which Ella Fitzgerald covers so wonderfully. Blue Moon Bed and Breakfast has taken its place among the many wonderful Inns of Ashland, many of which are inspected and approved members of the Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild.
