A Bounty of Culinary Treasures. My Oregon Bounty!

So what does an innkeeper do when he and/or she has a day to play in the garden?  Well, let me tell ya!  We clipped our sunflower heads off, picked a huge bell pepper, moved some rose bushes that were suffering terribly in their spot, trimmed the lavender, harvested our wee bundle of hops and drank a really cold beer.  Kind of perfect day in the Oregon sun if I don't say so myself.

As I was collecting my treasures, I was thinking which is always dangerous I might add, that we have our own Oregon Bounty right here in our garden.  What to do with our goodies?  I'm saving all the sunflower heads to give the birds a head start in snacking in the spring, drying the rose petals to sprinkle around the honeymoon suite for our next honeymooners, making Lavender Cookies for our guests with our lavender, using the hops to make a Hops Pillow for my honey and hmmm...think I will use the bell pepper on my pizza tonight!

If you are reading this blog, chances are you have already begun perusing The Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild's website.  Therefore, you have seen our Oregon Bounty logo and hopefully have clicked on it.  If you haven't gone that far yet, pause here and go check it out.  Where else in the country can you find delectable dishes such as Apple Cinnamon French Toast made with Portland liqueurs, hazelnut pancakes made with real hazelnuts picked right here in the Willamette Valley, scones made with real Oregon Blueberries, Poached Pears made with pears grown in the Hood Valley region of Oregon and wine from Willamette Valley Vineyards, Salmon Fritata's made with fresh salmon and of course a Baked Bosc pear made with ginger.  You are missing the hay wagon if you haven't checked out a Bed and Breakfast in Oregon!

Whether you are having the pleasure of dining at an Oregon Bed & Breakfast where the innkeepers can literally reach into their gardens to fill your breakfast dish or you are experiencing a meal prepared using only freshest ingredient from a nearby farmer's market, you are smack dab in the middle of what we innkeepers and Oregon Bounty do best...absolutely love serving the very best of Oregon to you!
