Okay...so I can mark another adventure off my list of fun things I want to experience in Oregon! I spent all day yesterday just a bit south of Albany and had so much fun doing it, I may do it again sometime soon! A culinary treat, a delightful shopping pit stop, beer at a local English pub and all within view of the Oregon Cascade Mountains!
I have wanted to go to Oakridge for about a year now. I had read about the Brewers Union Local 180 on the Travel Oregon website and thought it might be a fun place to stop for a beer and dinner. Well, I went and it was just that! It most surely lived up to my expectations. Of course the setting was magnificent as a wee bit of snow had lightly dusted the mountain peaks above the town and of course it made me think of powdered sugar dusted over my dutch apple pancake.
Boasting "Oregon's only Real Ale Pub and Brewery," they claim to "blend the best of the British Public House, the American Spirit of adventure, and the natural scenic beauty of Oregon's Cascade Mountains." I think they have captured those sentiments exactly by offering brew pub ales, local beer selections and their delectable pear and apple ciders. Starters, soups, mashers and mains are pretty darn tasty too! Bangers & Mash, Mash & Swine, Twiggy & Mash (Tempeh), fish and chips and even burgers, Brewers Union holds their own in offering unique, totally British and totally tasty bar food.
Heading over to Klammath Falls or just visiting Eugene, Oakridge is only 40 minutes from I-5 and makes for the perfect supper stop or lunch on your day trip. Cross country traveler, day tripper or the person who can hardly wait to get a taste and see all that is good in Oregon, visit one of our Oregon Bed and Breakfast Guild inns and plan to stick around as you visit our British and American brew pubs, drink "our" beer, taste "our" food and stay at "our" inns. We'd love to have you!
